    Sharpshooter Dart.

The introduction of the Sharpshooter Dart marked a new era in Nerf ammunition technology. Debuting in 1992, this innovative dart was packaged with the Sharpshooter blaster and quickly gained popularity. However, its popularity waned as the use of Ballistic Balls increased. Despite this, later versions of the Sharpshooter still managed to make an impact by coming with the Mega Dart, replacing the original Sharpshooter Dart.

The design of the Sharpshooter Dart was simple yet effective, with fins attached to the body of a Mega Dart. This unique feature differentiated it from other darts in the market at the time. But, as trends changed and new innovations were introduced, the fins on the Sharpshooter Dart were eventually phased out. This eventually led to the replacement of the Sharpshooter Dart with the Mega Dart in later models of the Sharpshooter.

    Mega Dart.

The Mega Dart made its debut in 1993, inspired by the previous year’s release of the Sharpshooter Dart. This new type of dart became the go-to choice for many blasters in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Nerf’s Mega Darts were a game-changer in the world of foam darts, offering a larger and longer design compared to the traditional Micro Dart. With two variations available, it could sometimes be challenging to distinguish between the two.

Type 1 Mega Darts were known for their extended range, but suffered from a lack of durability. However, as blasters started to utilize compression rings, Nerf switched to Type 2 Mega Darts which had a similar appearance but a much more average range.

In 1997, the Electric Eel was released with a special variant of the Mega Dart, featuring a phosphorescent paper wrap instead of a true glow-in-the-dark feature. Type 1 Mega Darts were discontinued in July of 1997 and Type 2 was last used in 1998, before being succeeded by the 1999 Screamin’ Mega Dart which was in use until 2007.

    Micro Dart.

The Micro Dart revolutionized the world of foam darts when it was introduced in 1993 as part of the Rip Rockets series. Initially known as “Rip Rockets”, it quickly replaced the once-popular Mega Dart and went on to dominate the market for many years.

The Micro Dart’s popularity can be attributed to its versatility, featuring a suction cup head that would stick to most smooth surfaces, even when fired from a distance. Made of foam similar to the Mega Dart, it was a bit more delicate than its modern counterparts, but still a staple among Nerf enthusiasts. Some versions of the Micro Dart featured a smaller suction cup that was narrower in diameter than the body of the dart itself.

In 2003, the Micro Dart was succeeded by the N-Strike Micro Dart, marking a new era in foam dart technology. Despite this, the Micro Dart remains a beloved part of Nerf history and is still popular among enthusiasts to this day.

The Whistler Dart is a unique type of Nerf Micro Dart, distinguishable by its signature whistle that is created by a small opening in the dart head. The whistle is more prominent indoors, making it easier to hear the trajectory of the dart.

Despite the whistling tip, the Whistler Dart may be less accurate than other dart types, especially if the opening faces upwards when shot, as the updraft can keep the dart from dropping. However, it is still a popular choice among enthusiasts for its firmer dart body and stronger head, compared to the similar Sonic Micro Dart.

At the time, both the Whistler Dart and the Sonic Micro Dart were available on the market. However, the Whistler Dart had a longer lifespan, continuing to be produced until 2011, when it was discontinued in favor of the standardized 2012 Elite Dart. Despite this, the Whistler Dart remains a fan favorite for its unique and distinctive sound.

The Sonic Micro Dart, a variation of the Micro Dart, is defined by its distinctive whistle created by a small hole in the dart head. The whistle is more audible indoors. However, this hole can also make the dart less accurate, but if it’s shot facing upwards, the dart will benefit from an updraft and fly further.

While the Whistler Dart had a stronger build, the Sonic Micro Dart was said to have more precision and consistency. Both Whistler and Sonic Micro Darts were available during the same era, but eventually, the production of the Sonic Micro Dart was discontinued in favor of the Whistler Dart. Despite this, in the United Kingdom, Sonic Micro Darts were still included with blasters.

The N-Strike line of blasters once utilized Micro Darts as their standard ammunition, often found accompanying single-fire and revolver-style weapons. However, over time the Whistler Dart overtook the Micro Dart in popularity and eventually replaced it altogether.

By 2012, the N-Strike Elite Dart had become the go-to dart type, but in 2014 the Micro Dart saw a resurgence in the form of the Suction Dart. This new type of dart was introduced as the true successor to the Micro Dart.

A special edition of the Micro Dart was also introduced in 2014, packaged under the Rebelle series as part of the Star Shot Set. Dubbed the Collectible Suction Dart, it offered a unique twist on the classic Micro Dart design.

Despite its decline in production, the Micro Dart still makes occasional appearances in certain promotional blasters and can be found packaged with N-Strike Elite products in select regions around the world.

    Nerf tagger micro darts.

The Tagger Micro Dart, also known as a Dart Tag Dart or simply a Tagger Dart, is a special type of Nerf dart that made its debut in 2004 as part of the Dart Tag series.

With its Velcro-tipped head, the Tagger Micro Dart is designed to stick to Scoring Vests, competition jerseys, and most other types of clothing material. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the clip system blasters, much like its Micro Dart predecessor.

The Tagger Micro Dart was the standard ammunition for the Nerf Dart Tag League when it was first introduced in 2004.

In 2008, the Dart Tag series was given a makeover with a new green and orange color scheme, and the Tagger Micro Dart was updated to match. A green version of the dart was released as part of this revamp.

However, by 2011, the Tagger Micro Dart was replaced by the Tagger Micro Whistler Dart as the standard Dart Tag ammunition. This new dart kept the Velcro tip, but added a whistling head and was produced in a single color scheme.

In 2018, a new version of the Tagger Micro Dart for the canceled Dart Tag Elite was patented, but it never saw the light of day as the product was never released or made.

The Streamline Dart, with its rubber-tipped, aerodynamic head and long orange body, is designed to be a universal ammunition for clip system blasters. Its shape and size make it easily adaptable to various interchangeable clips and drums, making it a go-to choice for many clip system compatible blasters.

However, the Streamline Dart’s reputation for poor accuracy is well-known, thanks to its long rubber stem and hollow head. Over time, these darts can become less firm and even cause jams in blasters. In addition, some blaster’s dart posts can damage or impale bent Streamline Darts. And in some cases, the longer dart posts on some blasters may render the Streamline Dart unusable, as its rubber stem can prevent proper insertion onto the post.

The Streamline Dart was first introduced to the market with the Longshot CS-6 in 2006, which marked the first appearance of the modern clip system.

By 2012, the Streamline Dart was being phased out and replaced by the N-Strike Elite Elite Dart. This new type of dart, also compatible with clip system blasters and accessories, boasts a shorter rubber stem, enabling it to be used in blasters with longer dart posts without issue.

What sets it apart is its specially designed tip that creates a high-pitched whistle as the dart flies, drawing the attention of your opponents and increasing your chances of hitting your target.

Since its introduction in 2011, the Tagger Micro Whistler Dart has become the standard in the dart tag arena, officially recognized as the ammunition of the elite Nerf Dart Tag League. In 2013, the Dart Duel set added even more excitement with the introduction of two new color schemes, offering players even more customization options. Introducing the Elite Dart – the premier ammunition for N-Strike blasters. Despite its compatibility with Streamline Dart clips and drums, the Elite Dart sets itself apart with its sleek new color scheme and shorter tip plug for increased compatibility with a wider range of blasters. The weight of these darts is also slightly lighter, approximately 1 gram compared to the 1.3 grams of Streamline Darts.

Not only do they look different, but the Elite Dart has been proven to outperform its predecessor. With commercials claiming a range of seventy-five feet when fired from an N-Strike Elite blaster, these darts are both more accurate and longer-flying than Streamline Darts. Tests have shown that the use of Elite Darts in N-Strike blasters can result in an increase in the overall range of anywhere from 10% to 20%. And, with their improved aerodynamics, the Elite Dart is less prone to disruptive fishtailing at high speeds, providing a more stable and consistent flight path.

If you’re looking for an edge in your next battle, make sure to choose the Elite Dart – the superior choice in N-Strike ammunition.

With a bold red color scheme, complemented by an orange tip, the Mega Dart cuts through the air with a whistle, making it easy to track during battles.

In comparison to other darts, the Mega Dart is designed to be more aerodynamically stable, ensuring maximum ranges are achieved. According to Hasbro, approximately 60% of the darts fired from the Centurion reach the maximum ranges, while the rest fall short. This contrasts with the performance of blasters that use Elite Darts, where only a few darts reach maximum ranges, even when angled.

Compatible with all blasters in the N-Strike Mega series, the Mega Dart is also compatible with some non-Nerf blasters, such as the Buzz Bee Air Max series. However, due to its size, it is not compatible with most older Mega Dart blasters, with some exceptions like the Max Force Sawtooth and the Nerf Action Crossbow.

In 2014, the Mega Dart was given a new twist as part of the Zombie Strike Z.E.D. Squad sub-series. With a vibrant green color scheme, it complemented the series and added a new dimension to the Mega Dart family. This popular dart was also given a second variant in 2019 as part of the Fortnite HC-E series.

These darts come in different variations, with some featuring a unique “W” letter code, adding an extra level of customization for players. The Suction Dart is the successor to the Micro Dart, and despite initial plans for a May 20th release, it was released early alongside the spring 2014 products.

Introducing the AccuStrike Dart – the latest advancement in the world of Nerf ammunition. Designed with precision and accuracy in mind, these darts were released in 2017 as part of the AccuStrike Series and offer a unique twist on the standard Elite Dart.

With its distinct spiraled dart head, the AccuStrike Dart was engineered to fly in a straight direction and provide maximum consistency. The flat head, molded with spiral indentations, creates a spinning effect when fired, though this has yet to be definitively proven. Despite its innovative design, the AccuStrike Dart still holds the same weight, distribution, and center of gravity as standard Elite Darts, making it backwards compatible with all clip system-compatible blasters.

Unfortunately, the dart head’s diameter being the same as the dart body means that these darts may not perform as well in blasters with compression barrels. Despite this limitation, the AccuStrike Dart was designed and tested by Hasbro engineers for over two years, making it a top choice for those seeking accuracy and performance.

In 2018 and 2021, the AccuStrike design inspired the creation of the Mega Dart and ULTRA Dart variants, respectively. Although these variants lack the spiral indentations, they maintain the flat tip design that has proven to improve consistency and accuracy in flight.

The ULTRA Dart is an innovative type of Nerf ammunition introduced in the fall of 2019 under the ULTRA series. These darts are designed with built-in fins at the base, providing improved stability and accuracy in flight. The streamlined dart head, which features two small parallel holes, is similar in appearance to Mega Darts.

ULTRA Darts are made from expanded polypropylene (EPP), a brittle and less flexible material compared to traditional foam darts, and are colored similarly to styrofoam. The heads, on the other hand, are made of soft thermoplastic rubber (TPR) to prevent damage to targets.

There have been some reports of ULTRA Darts experiencing excessive wear and tear around the dart head, as the dart heads are not mechanically anchored to the body of the dart. Instead, the heads are merely dome-shaped caps that are glued onto the shaft. This junction is also the area that experiences the greatest stress during impact, which can weaken the connection and cause the heads to become detached.

Despite these issues, ULTRA Darts have similar dimensions to the older Mega Dart and offer a new level of performance to players.
